Salford is a city of contrasts. Close to the centre there are terraced streets with compact yards and lots of new homes with small, new-build gardens. Further out, Worsley, Monton and Boothstown are leafier, with bigger plots and mature trees. Worsley's canal-side village is a conservation area, so the look of a wall or a drive there matters more than usual. Each part of the city asks for something different, and we plan every job around that.

Housing across Salford ranges from Victorian terraces in the older parts of Eccles and Pendlebury to interwar semis in Swinton and Walkden and the canal-side homes of Worsley. Terraces usually have a small back yard and no side access. Semis have longer gardens and room for a drive at the front. The many new homes in the city tend to come with thin topsoil over compacted ground, which is why their lawns struggle. In Worsley and Monton gardens are bigger and greener, and the conservation area around Worsley village means materials should suit the old buildings. Low-lying ground towards Irlam can be wet, so drainage comes first there.
