Garden paths and steps that are safe underfoot
A good path takes you where you actually walk, drains quickly and stays firm in all weathers. We build garden paths in sandstone, porcelain, block paving, brick and gravel, on a compacted base with solid edging so the sides never break away.
Steps need even more care. Every riser should be the same height and every tread deep enough for a full foot, otherwise people trip. We build steps on concrete footings, with brick or block risers and paving treads set with a slight fall so water runs off rather than sitting on them.

Small units that follow curves easily and suit traditional gardens, with a firm edge course on both sides.

How we carry out the work
How we build garden paths and steps
No pressure at any stage, and nothing is booked until you have the price in writing.
Plan the route
We survey the garden with you, measure the change in level and work out the line, width and number of steps.
Dig and lay the base
The path is dug out and a sub-base compacted, while steps get concrete footings to stop them shifting.
Build and lay
Risers are built and treads bedded, then the path surface is laid between firm edges with a fall for drainage.
Finish and check
Joints are pointed or sanded, every step is checked for level and the area is cleaned up.
